Fresh Start 2: Simplest fiber hack

Welcome to Fresh Start — Week 2.

If last week was about hydration + remineralising, this week is about something your gut lives for:

Fiber.

Fiber fuels your gut bacteria, supports regularity, keep you full, stabilizes blood sugar, and (bonus) can seriously reduce cravings. And in my opinion, fiber + protein are two of the most crucial “base nutrients” most people under-do.

Also… I’ll say it plainly: your gut is the key that unlocks lasting health.
When your gut is supported, everything gets easier - energy, mood, inflammation, hormones, PMS… the whole system.

So let’s keep this week’s action step ridiculously simple.

Fresh Start Habit: Eat 1 tablespoon of chia seeds a day

Why this matters?

Chia seeds are a fiber powerhouse. They’re also gentle for most people and easy to add without changing your whole diet.

That fiber helps:

  • Feed beneficial gut bacteria
  • Improves motility + regularity
  • Keeps you full (so you’re not hunting snacks an hour later)
  • Stabilizes blood sugar (think fewer cravings)

(If you have IBS and fiber sometimes flares symptoms, start with 1 teaspoon for a few days and work up slowly. Your gut likes consistency more than intensity.)

How to do it (pick ONE option)

Breakfast ideas

  1. Mix into yogurt, a smoothie, or your breakfast oatmeal (whatever you already do).
  2. Stir into scrambled eggs after cooking (sounds weird, works fine. You won’t taste it).

Lunch/Dinner ideas
3) Sprinkle over salads, roasted veggies, or whatever you’re serving with dinner.
4) Mix into a sauce or dressing (think pesto, tomato sauce, tzatziki-style yogurt dressing) for a fiber boost you don’t notice.

Snack / “I forgot” ideas
5) Throw it into your protein shake.
6) Make a 2-minute chia pudding: 1 tbsp chia + ½ cup milk (or almond/coconut milk) + cinnamon. Stir, leave 10–15 minutes, eat.

Choose one method. Do it daily. That’s the whole plan.

Are you already a chia person? Hit reply and tell me:

  • YES (and how you use it), or
  • NOT YET (and I’ll help you pick the easiest option based on what you eat for breakfast).

See you next Monday for Fresh Start Week 3.

With love (and a happy gut),

Welcome to Real Health in Real Life. Behind the Scenes of what's working, what's not & what I'm doing about it. Quick, honest, and practical. Life lately:This past week has been a bit crazy. The days are flying by. I look at the clock thinking it’s 10am but suddenly it’s 4pm. Where are the days going!!! Work has been extra stressful and it has felt like a balancing act I have gotten right. The best way I can describe it is this: you know when you shake up a dirty water bottle and everything...

I need to share one of my biggest pet peeves with you as someone who is in the health & wellness industry: It’s this whole idea of “balancing hormones.” If I had a dollar for every time someone said, “My goal is to balance my hormones,” or “My doctor said my symptoms are due to hormonal imbalance,” I would be able to retire today. Here’s the part that gets me: when I ask, “Which hormones?” the answer is usually something like…“I don’t know. Just hormones in general.” Friends, we have 200+...

I’m starting something new: Behind the Scenes of Real Health in Real Life. It’s my weekly, no-fluff check-in on how I’m navigating real health in real life. The wins, the wobbles, and the tools that are actually helping. Quick, to the point, and (hopefully) the kind of email that makes you feel like you’re not doing this alone. Here’s this week’s Behind the Scenes: Life lately:I’ve been home alone for three weeks, and I’m honestly using this time as a little gift to my nervous system. More...
